The VALARIS DS-9, one of the world’s most advanced offshore drilling rigs, has arrived in Las Palmas for a 6–7 day technical stopover before continuing its journey to Angola, where it is scheduled to commence its next drilling campaign.
Built for ultra-deepwater operations of up to 12,000 feet, the sixth-generation drillship is equipped with a DP3 dynamic positioning system, a 1,250-ton drilling tower, 15,000 psi BOP technology, and accommodation for over 200 personnel. Measuring over 230 meters, the rig represents a significant achievement in offshore engineering and deepwater drilling capabilities.
The port call was successfully managed by Canarship’s technical and ground operations team, reaffirming Las Palmas’ strategic position as a key international maritime hub in the Atlantic for offshore and energy projects.
