Transocean has announced that its 5th-generation semisubmersible rig, Deepwater Nautilus, will join Japan Drilling Co. Ltd (JDC) under a new contract worth $153 million. Built in 2000, the rig is known for its robust design and advanced capabilities, making it a key asset in deepwater exploration worldwide.
Despite newer rigs being decommissioned, the Nautilus stands out for its reliability and performance, capable of operating in ultra-deepwater environments. This deal aligns with Transocean’s strategic asset management, highlighting the continued value of the Nautilus and its significant role in the offshore drilling market.
