Saipem has confirmed that Aker BP has exercised its final one-year option to extend the contract for the 10,000-ft semi-submersible rig Scarabeo 8. The extension will keep the rig working offshore Norway until 31 December 2027, in direct continuation of the previous one-year extension.
The original contract was awarded in March 2022, with the first extension exercised in September 2024, securing operations through 2026. The Scarabeo 8 recently completed work on the Rondeslottet well for Aker BP, followed by a yard stay at Westcon Yards in Norway. The rig has now resumed operations in the Norwegian Sea, arriving at Aker BP’s Alve Nord field last week.
