Saipem has reached a key milestone in the Scarborough Energy Project by completing the installation of a 433-km trunkline, connecting the Scarborough gas field in the Carnarvon Basin to the onshore LNG facility at Pluto. Using its flagship vessel, Castorone, Saipem laid over 36,000 pipe segments at depths of up to 1,400 meters, marking a major achievement in offshore engineering.
The project, awarded by Woodside in 2022, is set to deliver cleaner energy by providing a stable gas supply. Saipem’s advanced pipelaying vessel, Castorone, played a pivotal role, equipped with cutting-edge technology to handle deepwater challenges.
Pre-commissioning activities are now underway, preparing the system for full operation. The Scarborough project underscores Saipem’s expertise in delivering complex offshore installations, reinforcing its leadership in the energy sector.
