Noble Corporation’s 12,000-ft drillship, Noble Viking, has departed from Labuan anchorage to commence drilling operations for Petronas off the coast of Sabah, Malaysia. The drillship will target the Megah-1 well, with operations anticipated to extend until February 2025. This marks the latest chapter in Noble Viking’s robust schedule of assignments across Asia.
Upon completing the Megah-1 well for Petronas, Noble Viking is slated to transition seamlessly into its next assignment for Shell, also in Malaysia. The vessel’s dynamic schedule will then take it to the Philippines in July 2025, where it is contracted to Prime Energy for a 140-day drilling campaign. This contract, secured at a day rate of $499,000, highlights the region’s strong demand for advanced offshore drilling capabilities.
Noble Viking’s series of engagements underscore the continued growth of Southeast Asia’s offshore energy sector. The rig’s versatility and cutting-edge technology make it a key asset in unlocking the region’s hydrocarbon potential.
