Constellation scores semisub contract with Brava Energia

Brazilian offshore driller Constellation Oil Services has been awarded a 400-day contract by Brava Energia for its semisubmersible rig Lone Star. The rig, which has been part of Constellation’s fleet since 2011, will be deployed for operations at the Papa-Terra and Atlanta fields off the coast of Brazil. The contract, valued at approximately $130 million, includes a 60-day extension option.

The Lone Star will begin its campaign in the fourth quarter of 2025 after concluding its current charter with Petrobras. Although the agreement does not cover integrated services or managed pressure drilling (MPD), it represents a significant milestone in Brava Energia’s offshore activities. The company has also partnered with OneSubsea for two subsea trees for the Atlanta field and Baker Hughes for subsea lines and risers, signaling robust developments in Brazil’s offshore sector.

The Lone Star contract highlights growing activity in Brazil’s offshore oil and gas exploration and production, reflecting a positive trajectory for the region’s energy industry.
