Borr Drilling has successfully completed preparations for its newly delivered jack-up rig, setting the stage for its maiden drilling campaign off the coast of Africa. This milestone underscores the company’s efforts to strengthen its operational fleet and take on new challenges in offshore drilling.
The recent rig delivery is part of an extended series originally scheduled for completion by Keppel FELS but delayed due to setbacks in 2020 and 2021. Adjustments to the delivery timeline led to renegotiations with Keppel Offshore & Marine, culminating in an amended agreement to expedite the rigs’ availability. This included the novation of three construction contracts to ADNOC Drilling, resulting in timely deliveries to bolster their drilling capabilities. The fourth rig, Vali, arrived ahead of schedule in August 2024, showcasing the successful coordination between Borr Drilling and its partners to meet evolving market demands and operational goals.
With all necessary checks complete, Borr Drilling is poised to commence its first African venture, signaling a pivotal step in its strategic growth and commitment to expanding its international footprint.
