Stena Drilling’s ultra-deepwater drillship, Stena DrillMAX, has been awarded a contract by TotalEnergies for operations in Block 64, offshore Suriname. The drilling campaign will focus on the Macaw-1 exploration well and will utilize Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) technology. The initial contract period is 73 days, with operations expected to commence in Q2 2025.
Currently warm-stacked in Curaçao, Stena DrillMAX is set to mobilize for the campaign, with the contract also including an option for up to three additional wells. This agreement marks another step in Suriname’s expanding offshore exploration activities, reinforcing the region’s potential as a key player in deepwater oil and gas development.
