Saipem has been awarded a $1 billion offshore engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract by BP for the Tangguh Ubadari Carbon Capture (UCC) Project in Indonesia. This integrated project focuses on extracting natural gas from the Ubadari offshore field and transporting it to an onshore LNG facility for CO2 separation. The captured CO2 will be transported back to an offshore platform for reinjection into the reservoir, enhancing natural gas recovery and minimizing emissions.
Saipem’s scope includes designing and installing two wellhead production platforms—one for gas production and another for CO2 reinjection—along with approximately 90 kilometers of associated subsea pipelines. This contract bolsters Saipem’s leadership in natural gas and carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects, showcasing its advanced engineering expertise and innovative solutions. The Tangguh UCC Project marks a significant step in Indonesia’s energy infrastructure, aligning with global sustainability efforts.
