Saipem, a global leader in drilling and exploration, is setting its sights on new opportunities in Namibia after securing a drillship contract in the region. The company’s Santorini drillship has been contracted by Galp Energia for a single-well exploration campaign, set to take place in Namibian waters this quarter.
Alessandro Puliti, CEO of Saipem, highlighted Namibia’s importance to the company’s strategic goals. “Namibia represents an exciting new strategic market for Saipem, given its vast potential for exploration, operational activity, and future production,” he said. The move underscores Saipem’s intent to tap into the country’s untapped hydrocarbon reserves, further solidifying its presence in emerging markets.
As Namibia’s hydrocarbon sector develops, this contract could mark the beginning of more extensive exploration and production activities, with Saipem poised to play a key role in this promising region.
