Borr Drilling’s Gerd Rig Ready for Congo After UAE Yard Stay

Borr Drilling’s Gerd jackup rig has completed its stay at Crystal Offshore’s Khalifa Port facility in the UAE and is set to begin its contract in Congo. The 400-ft PPL Pacific Class 400-design rig underwent an activation program that included fabrication, repairs, and upgrades to ensure it’s fully prepared for its upcoming assignment. The rig is scheduled to commence operations under a 180-day firm contract with Eni in mid-November, with an option to extend for another 180 days.

The Gerd’s successful activation highlights the strategic role of Abu Dhabi as a hub for rig maintenance and deployment. Crystal Offshore managed the project, ensuring the rig was ready to meet Eni’s operational demands in West Africa. This deployment marks an important step for Borr Drilling, reinforcing its presence in the region and demonstrating its ability to deliver reliable and versatile drilling solutions.
