In a groundbreaking move, Seadrill and Oil States have announced a strategic collaboration aimed at transforming offshore Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) operations. This non-exclusive partnership brings together Oil States’ award-winning MPD Integrated Riser Joint (IRJ) system with Seadrill’s high-performance, high-spec fleet to enable a standardized MPD capability across all operations in their fleet.
The Oil States IRJ offers several advanced features, including being more compact and lighter than traditional systems, as well as safer to handle. One of its standout benefits is the ability to keep the rig on well center while testing or retrieving bearing seals, extending seal life and improving overall operational efficiency. These features are expected to significantly reduce rig-up time and minimize Non-Productive Time (NPT), providing Seadrill with a crucial edge in offshore operations.
