Ventura Offshore Midco, a subsidiary of Brazilian deepwater drilling contractor Ventura Offshore, will continue its operations off the coast of Indonesia with Eni Indonesia, a subsidiary of Italy’s energy giant Eni.
Eni has exercised the second of four optional wells for the 2012-built SSV Catarina semi-submersible rig, extending its operations into the first quarter of 2026. This move adds approximately $10 million to Ventura Offshore’s firm backlog. Eni still retains two remaining optional wells, which could potentially extend the rig’s deployment through Q2 2026.
The SSV Catarina is capable of ultra-deepwater operations of up to 10,000 feet (3,050 meters) and drilling depths of up to 35,000 feet (10,668 meters), making it a versatile asset for Eni’s offshore projects.
The contract with Eni Indonesia commenced in August 2024, shortly after Ventura Offshore listed on the Euronext Growth Oslo exchange in June 2024. Ventura Offshore owns and operates one drillship, DS Carolina, and two semi-submersible rigs, SSV Victoria and SSV Catarina, while also managing another drillship, DS Zonda.
Earlier this year, Ventura Offshore’s drillship returned to operations off Brazil for Petrobras following the lifting of a prior suspension, demonstrating the company’s expanding footprint in key offshore regions.
